Function
Utility
PTS should exist only if it supplies economic services that are difficult, expensive, or strategically undesirable to reproduce with USD, USDC, bank rails, SOL, ETH, or internal credits. Labels below distinguish what is live, in development, proposed, or long-term thesis.
Loop
Earn → Hold → Use → Transfer → Exchange
Earn
Verified economic contribution — product activity, merchant participation, or other documented network work — can distribute PTS. Distribution is a starting condition, not reserve demand.
Hold
Participants may retain balances between transactions if PTS provides continuing option value, access, or coordination — the hard test of reserve-like behavior.
Use
Near-term: rewards, benefits, and network access inside ThePoints.io product architecture. Longer-term: independent merchant, developer, and agent integrations.
Transfer
As an open Solana asset, PTS can move between wallets under ordinary SPL rules — subject to market liquidity when venues exist.
Exchange
Public markets are not yet active. When formed, exchange should be measured by depth and resilience, not headline volume.
Null hypothesis
Why hold PTS if USD / USDC exist?
Stable settlement money and a network reserve asset solve different problems. USD and USDC are well suited to invoices, wages, and obligations where nominal stability matters. PTS is proposed for coordination, incentive portability, programmable ownership, and — if earned — voluntary treasury balances between transactions.
Would an economically sophisticated participant maintain a positive PTS balance if its expected capital gain were zero?
If the answer is yes for a growing population of independent participants, the reserve thesis has evidence. If not, observed holdings may be primarily speculative or inventory awaiting sale.
Product
ThePoints.io — bootstrap rails
ThePoints.io LLC is the product company designing financial accounts, wallets, cards, rewards, optimization, and connections for AI agents. These features are product architecture / in development — not claimed as fully live consumer products on this site. Banking, wallet, and card capabilities should be understood as the intended bootstrap path for verified economic activity that can earn and use PTS.
ThePoints.io can bootstrap PTS. It should not permanently define PTS. Independent network share — balances, integrations, and utility outside the company and planned Foundation — is the long-run decentralization metric that matters.

Current / near-term vs future
Near-term
- Documented reward records from eligible product activity
- Claim flows to verified wallets
- Scoped agent balance/status permissions
- Anti-farming controls
- Transparency of mint, allocation, and authorities
Future / conditional
- Independent merchant and developer integrations
- Deep two-sided liquidity
- Voluntary treasury policies by third parties
- Supply-neutral multichain representations
- Points Chain only if economically justified
